About the Course

Everything comes together in the Capstone. You will draft a complete story, narrative essay, or memoir of 8–15 pages. With the advice of your peer readers, you will revise, rewrite, and complete it. The skills you’ve learned of plotting, setting, physical description, characterization, and stylistic clarity and innovation will culminate in an original work of art all your own. We’ll discuss the steps that professional writers take to bring their work into the public world. Along the way you’ll learn the patient habits of revision that make up the writer’s life....

Really enjoyed doing the capstone project! It was difficult at times, but totally worth it in the end!

This has been a wonderful opportunity and journey, one of learning how to tap into innate skills of creativity, inspiration and penmanship. Thank you.

It would be a great idea to get feedback from the course creator on the final submission. One individual submitted something, which was only 5 pages for a 15-page story. It appeared it was a first draft being submitted over and over. I didn't want to be rude, but I couldn't give all 5's for something that didn't meet the course standards although I made my feedback positive. However, I'm left wondering if my story is worth of seeking to have it published or understanding if I should make it part of an anthology. It would be great to hear from the creator of the CAPSTONE. Thank you.

First, the good news: This course provided me with a lot of practical experience in developing a story, refining my drafts, and crafting text that provided interest and depth to my storytelling. Now the bad news: The AI Coach provided good feedback in the first four courses of this series. But it was downright dysfunctional in this one. It was so bad that I had to contact customer service at one point. But I am happy to say that I received fast and helpful customer service. This course was worth taking but Coursea really needs to fix what is broken in its system.

Other students provide minimal, to no, feedback that doesn't meet the requirements for feedback and there is no way to report this. It makes me feel like any work that is accomplished is more of a joke because of the people who skate through the course like this.

There are a lot of kinks to be worked out in this course. The teaching aspect of the Craft of Writing is in the four previous courses, this one is basically write a story, get reviews.

With all due respect, this module felt like a case of the barely sighted leading the blind!

I'm unable to finish this course because of some error in submitting the peer reviews. my assignments are complete, I'm on time, but this error from your end is not letting me finish my course and get certificate. I even tried writing email to complain about this but there's no reply. This is such a fraud from Coursera's side. It's a waste of my money and time. And this issue is not only with me but also some other fellows. I warn the students buying this course or any other course on Coursera that you not trust them. They leave you hanging by the end of your course. THIS IS A FRAUD

There are so many bots that you really don't get real feedback. Then if someone sends a PDF in a different language than you, it's hard to help them because it isn't translated and you don't have much of a choice on what to do. All in all, this program needs to be cleaned up and the bots taken care of, it's a huge problem and I don't think I learned anything from peer review which is heavily emphasized in this program. Too bad because the videos has some helpful lessons!

Someone has stolen my story and shared as their own in one of the peer-graded assignements and no one from coursera or Weslyan as come to help out. UNACCEPTABLE
